Dogs and Thunderstorms: Why The Anxiety Wrap Works

anxiety wrap for dogs

With Spring showers here already, one thing is for sure - it is Anxiety Wrap time. For dogs that are afraid of thunderstorms, this remarkable “snug fitting t-shirt” can work miracles. As this article points out, the Anxiety Wrap Can Help Dogs Cope With Fear of Thunderstorms.

I have to admit, when I first learned about the Anxiety Wrap, I was a little skeptical. A t-shirt that makes a dog relax? It sounded a little out there. But our dog Daisy was so afraid of thunderstorms, and we had tried to so many other options (without any success) that we decided to give it a try. The concept was familiar: the Anxiety Wrap applies gentle pressure, similar to the effect a baby feels when swaddled. This light pressure makes the dog feel safe, allowing the pet to calm down significantly.

To ensure that Daisy’s reaction would be positive, we introduced our dog Daisy to the Anxiety Wrap slowly, giving her treats in the process. We would put the wrap on her for only a couple minutes (when the weather was fine) and then take it off, rewarding her with treats in the process. She soon came to regard the wrap as a fun “t-shirt and treats game”. We expanded the time that she would wear it, and then we allowed her to wear it during a thunderstorm, She took to it very well and soon was comfortably wearing the Anxiety Wrap during thunderstorms and lightning, sleeping soundly.

Of course, the Anxiety Wrap is no magic pill by any means. However, the Anxiety Wrap did allow our dog Daisy to relax a bit, find a spot to settle down (she used to like a corner in the bathroom) and go to sleep. Before the wrap, Daisy would claw, scratch, pant and pace around the house in a near panic. The Anxiety Wrap helped make her life a little easier (and ours as well).

If your dog suffers from thunderstorm fear, we highly recommend the Anxiety Wrap. It can immensely improve the quality of life for your dog, allowing your pet to calm down as the storm passes.

Never heard of anything like it before. Is it magnetized or something? Hey, if it works don’t knock it. It reminds me a child’s security blanket.

My dog gets anxious sometimes when I’m away from the house. I haven’t been able to identify the exact cause, but I think his anxiety usually occurs when he’s home alone and there are loud noises right outside the window of my house (I’m thinking the gardner doing yard work). Is it okay to leave the anxiety wrap on your dog unattended?
