Today is the last day of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, as sponsored by animalsheltering.org, a program of the The Humane Society of the United States. We are huge fans of shelters and rescues and we donate liberally to their causes. We have a soft spot for these vital institutions, especially since we adopted our own dog Daisy from just such an organization. She has been a wonderful part of our family and we can’t imagine life without her.
