Bugs, Fleas & Ticks, Oh My!

As everyone knows, we live out in the country. In fact, we often like to joke that we live in Hooterville, the country bumpkin town from Green Acres, one of the most surreal television shows of all time. You know the one where Oliver & Lisa Douglas move from the city to the country and find that it’s completely insane.

Anyway, living so close to nature has it’s pluses and minuses. The pluses: fresh air, beautiful scenery and room to stretch out. The dogs love being outdoors and all of the “critters” that seem to wander through our five acres. It keeps things isteresting, that’s for sure.

The minuses: bugs of just about every kind. We’ve encountered bugs out here that I swear are not in any textbook. Scoutie and Daisy have been pretty bug free this summer though. The Pup Life dogs have been wearing Flea The Scene natural insect spray with sunscreen and Bug Off Organic Flea Control Dog Shampoo. The combination works great. Flea The Scene keeps off more than fleas. Mosquitos, ticks, you name it - they keep off our pups. And best of all, Flea The Scene contains a natural sunscreen and aloe vera to keep their skin nice and healthy. Good stuff. And Bug Off? Well, it gets Daisy and Scout super clean (that’s important!) and it’s a citrus-based blend with pure, moisturizing olive and jojoba. The combination helps to protect them from the evil ticks, fleas and mosquitos of the area. Trust me, it works.

Now our dogs can enjoy the outdoors, the lovely scenery and yes, the occasional rabbit chase, without getting devoured by insects. Nice!

Our family, Sheltie(Dasher) Yorkie(Rascal), Chihuahua(Spanky),Cat(Meescha), husband(Daddy), Me(Momma), live in the middle of 14 1/2 acres of a beautiful “hard” woods. The wild life are our special guests we feed and love deer and their fawns, all colors of squirrels, woodchucks and their pups, crows and can’t forget the wild turkeys and the racoons. All sorts of weird looking bugs. We have our pets on protective meds. for the prevention of heartworm which takes care of fleas and ticks and mosquitos. So far everyone is very healthy and we all have a good time on hikes on our property. We live in Sourthern lower Michigan and there is a chain of lakes so close we can hear the motors of boats. A beautiful state and area! Wish I could share it with all of you. Every one keep your animals as healthy as affordable. They love you after all!
