It seems like everyone’s packing up and heading out on vacation. There’s nothing better than a summertime road trip to recharge your batteries and reinvigorate your spirit! Here are a few things to remember if you’re planning a trip with your pooch:
- Be sure your dog is wearing a properly fitted collar with up-to-date ID tags. Don’t forget to pack a leash, pick-up bags and a dog first aid kit. It’s also a good idea to bring along a copy of your pet’s vaccination records and veterinarian information just in case.
- Pre-package your dog’s food in daily portions along with her supplements and any medication. This will make feeding time a breeze. Travel bowls and feedbags are especially handy for easy clean-up. Just rinse, stow and go!
- Bring along your dog’s favorite toys, blanket or bed. Many dogs enjoy traveling as much as people do, but disruptions to daily life can be unsettling for some and a simple reminder of home can ease stress.
- Some dogs are sensitive to motion sickness, especially puppies, so be sure to acclimate your pooch to car travel before your cross-country trip! Motion sickness and anxiety may be mitigated with the use of herbal remedies like our Travel Happy Essential Oil, the Anxiety Wrap or utilizing a travel crate.
- Make automobile travel safer for your pet by utilizing a method of travel restraint like our Backseat Barrier, Car Safety Harness or collapsible travel crate.
- Give your dog plenty of fresh water and make frequent stops so both you and Fido have a chance to stretch your legs and go potty.
- Never leave your dog or cat alone in the car. Heat stroke can be fatal and may occur in minutes - even with the windows open.
Oh and before we forget - be safe, have fun and keep those tails a-waggin’!

Hello,
Great site and information as my family and I not only travel a lot with our pets on the weekends - but we are now planning on moving with our pets and that alone is its own set of craziness!
I like your site and I found this blog to help out a lot: www.petrelocation.blogspot.com - hopefully it will help your readers too!
Happy Tails,

AH! traveling with a dog, it can be great if you plan it well, but can also be such a pain if no planning is done. I once forgot my dogs bed and lets just say my dog was not impressed with me.
