Loving Our Dogs

April 26th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Kudos to Oprah Winfrey for her recent show “Loving Our Dogs”.

Like Oprah, we believe our dogs are part of the family and should be treated with love and respect. That’s why we were thrilled to see Positive Reinforcement Dog Training demonstrated over harsher methods based on “pack leadership” and compulsion currently advocated on television. Good house manners are essential for both canines and humans but these skills can be taught without resorting to physical force.

Some of our favorite Positive Reinforment Dog Training books include The Dog Whisperer by Paul Owens (the original dog whisperer!), Small Dogs, Big Hearts by Darlene Arden, The Power of Positive Dog Training by Pat Miller and On Talking Terms with Dogs by Turid Rugaas. You can find all of these books and more in PupLife.com’s Book Section.

We were also glad to see Dr. Marty Goldstein address the topic of healthy eating for dogs and cats. It’s so important to incorporate fresh, whole foods into our pets’ diets. Can you imagine eating the same bowl of processed kibble day after day? Visit PupLife.com for more information on some of the safe, healthy dog food recommended by Dr. Goldstein as well as tips on transitioning your dog or cat to a new diet.

Woof!
