The program Pairs Inner City Children With Shelter Dogs as part of an innovative violence prevention program. “What we want to do is teach children who might be exposed to violence and at-risk behavior - we want to expose them to compassion and kindness,” says Barbara Carr, local executive director of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
